62. School

Possibly the shortest chapter we’ve had. This really shouldn’t have taken me three weeks, but I am busy preparing for an anime convention where I’ll be hosting two panels, so uh, as you can imagine I have been quite busy.

「Sit there.」

「Okay.」

I was told to do so with a condescending attitude, so I obediently followed her orders.
Since I was sitting now, she was also physically  looking down at me. So, Ojou, looking at me with her arms folded, was clearly angry.
She was naturally beautiful with her slanted eyes, so her glare was impressive. Her angry aura combined with her standing imposingly had a considerable pressure. Just looking at her like this, she looked like a rival girl.
Ojou, the duke’s daughter Lydia von Ernest, is apparently the rival girl in the otome game Kimiboshi. Kimiboshi is an abbreviation, but the real name is so long that I can’t remember it well. In fact, she is engaged to the first prince, who is the capture target of the game. Also, her ample breasts are at the point they are now resting on her folded arms, and she looks a little strained. So, her appearance is also just like in the game.
I remember it well, even considering how I only helped conquer the minigames when helping my sister from my past life. Well, since she was the rival of my sister’s favorite character, I guess she was in my field of vision. I played a lot, and console games share the display and cabinet, so I had to wait until she finished playing.
Unable to bear the silence of looking down upon, I dug up my memories from my past life of fighting with my sister about who would get to play first.

「What is going on?」

「No, even if you ask me……」

Even though she demanded I explain the situation, I didn’t really understand.
We were behind the building of the Royal Magic Academy. I was brought to a deserted place, but I’m not being punished. Right now, I’m being lectured by Ojou.

「What are you doing so soon after enrolling?!」

「No, it’s…」

「Be silent!」

She scolded me and said she wouldn’t tolerate any excuses, so I was quiet again. It wasn’t my intention, but it seems like I’d made a fuss that reached Ojou’s ears.
Ojou put her hand to her forehead as if she had a headache and sighed.

「You really should be aware that you stand out.」

「There are beautiful girls like you and dazzling guys like Leo, I’m just tall.」

「It’s not a matter of appearance!」

I tried to argue that it was obvious that I was overshadowed by appearances, but Ojou pointed out that wasn’t it.

「Someone who forgot to take the magic measurement test twice will only stand out in a bad way.」

Yes, I was a drifter. Since the age at which you enroll is like high school, it’s a little sad to think of someone who has repeated high school. [T/N: Zack uses “ronin” which is a term for high school graduates who failed an entrance exam and are studying for the next]
Just as Ojou said, I forgot to take the magical measurement test. That’s why I stand out in a bad way even though I’m not even a mob character in an otome game.

「Seriously, Zack……」

As I listened to Ojou’s lecture, I remember the promise I made with the Duke four years ago.

Like I said, super short chapter that even caught me off guard with how short it was. But between the July 4th holiday and preparing two panels for a convention, I’m glad this chapter was as short as it was.

It seems like we’ve got another time skip to start this volume off as well as a mystery on what the Duke asked Zack to do all that time ago. Pretty sure it’s going to involve the magical measurement tests, and yes, Zack does explicitly use the term “forgot” rather than imply he’s dodging them. Zack’s position is a little ambiguous as he uses the term “ronin” which in colloquial speak is someone who failed entrance exams for university and is studying for next year, but it can also mean someone who is out of work. I didn’t commit too hard in either direction since we don’t know what happened to him, so I settled for “drifter”.

Anyways, I’m going to be on vacation for a while especially with these panels, so don’t expect an update until like mid-to-late August. Sorry for the delay there but even I need a break sometimes hahaha.

Have a good summer, everyone!
